Huruma Global Support Initiative · Uganda
Breaking the cycle of poverty, one child, one family at a time.
We give children access to quality education and help men and women build steady, dignified livelihoods.
Who we are
Huruma means compassion. We put it into practice.
Huruma Global Support Initiative (HGSI) is a Ugandan social enterprise working in under-served communities. We believe poverty and lack of education feed each other, so we tackle both together.
Our work supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals for No Poverty (SDG 1) and Quality Education (SDG 4), with a focus on long-term change rather than short-term relief.

From the field
“A bright future begins with a book.”
When our team delivered books to Murambo Catholic Nursery and Primary School, the children’s joy was immediate. The tour that followed was harder: one room serving as a classroom, staff room, office and food store, with a dirt floor and log benches. This is why we keep going back.
